HOLY COW I ALMOST MISSED THE TOLKIEN BLOG PARTY

EEK

GUYS

I ALMOST MISSED IT!

I ALMOST MISSED THE BEST BLOG PARTY EVER

*heavy breathing*

Anyway let's do this before I forget xD

Would You Rather...

1.  ...join Thorin's Company or the Fellowship?

Daaaaaaang that's hard. On one hand, Kili and Fili and Thorin and all those awesome, funny, super-cool Dwarves... and then on the other hand... LEGOLAS AND MEN AND HOBBITS AND A WIZARD AND A DWARF, OH MY

Ok I'll join the Fellowship :D

2.  ...ride Shadowfax or an eagle?

Hmmm... I think Shadowfax would be cool, but it did say in the book that he wouldn't let anyone ride him except Gandalf, soooooo... let's go fly an eagle :P

3.  ...travel through Moria or Mirkwood?

MIRK. WOOD. ELVES DFLKJDSLKJFDSLKJ

4.  ...learn to make elvish rope or mithril chainmail?

Hm. Now both of these sound really interesting. Which shall I choose?

...BOTH HAHA

5.  ...try to outwit Smaug or Saruman?

Well..... I mean. Sauruman is super scary, but he can't blast me with fire. So even though riddling with a dragon sounds interesting, let's stick with something more my size. ;-)

Image result for smaug
I mean. He's HUGE.

6.  ...spend an hour with Grima Wormtongue or Denethor?

...eeeewwwwwwwwwww. Ok so both of these... people... are super weird. BUT. I feel like even though Denethor is super messsed-up (like. Who burns himself and his son alive.), I feel like he would be more respectful of me. Not so Mr. Wormtougue.

7.  ...attend Faramir's wedding or Samwise's wedding?

MUST I choose. *cries* I think... I think I'll go to the Shire and leave a present in Minas Tirith for Faramir and Eowyn. Because Sam. <3

Image result for samwise wedding
<3

8.  ...have to care for the One Ring or the Arkenstone for a day?

Well. Even though Thorin is a bit intimidating and would be mad if I touched his Arkenstone... he's not a freakin' Dark Lord with nine creeps and a bunch of ugly bois in his service... so yeah xD

Image result for arkenstone

9.  ...have tea with Bilbo or Frodo?

WHY. WHY the hard questions. Probably Frodo though.

does anyone know where I can get a pet Hobbit, I want one very badly

Image result for frodo

10.  ...fight alongside Boromir or Eomer?

Ohhhh wow. Probably Eomer, although I love Boromir. Because I just can't. A HORSE-LORD. Plus his hair is awesome and that dude is BUFF.

YAY
I DID IT

*dies*

I hope you enjoyed reading this post, and I sure am glad I got my answers in on time... sort of... xD

That's all for now!

The Voted Most Likely Tag!!! (featuring characters from a book you didn't know existed!!)

Hey hey hey my Elflings!

So today I have a tag
and a book
and you may have known this tag existed
but you've never heard of the book

:D ANYWAY

Presenting: the Voted Most Likely tag!!

ze RULEZ:

1. Thank the blogger who tagged you

...well... actually.... I stole this tag from MK at Sarcastic Scribblings BUT SHE SAID I COULD. SO. :)

2. Include this link

3. Use your own lovely Original Characters (OC's); don't use a friend's characters or characters from your favorite fandom. They can be from any project, so long as you created them. For more fun, try to use as many different characters as possible.

4. Tag at least five lovely bloggers to play along!

You know what, I don't know anyone who hasn't done this tag. So. Steal it if you wish. I won't tell. :D

Ok so you need a list of characters from Relics Of Olde (that book you didn't know was a book :D).and what they are and yeah so here:

Serskit: a Sand Cat (that's a real thing, look it up)
Zirrelis (aka Zir): my lovely Elf warrior and i love her
Lord Calanon: Zir's amazing foster father Elf CAN I HAVE ONE OF HIM
Arya: another lovely Elf; she's awesome
Delar: yet another Elf, he's the kind that's awesome and can be hilarious ACK MY HEART
Vehiron: the king of the Elven Realm, I LOVE HIM
Rusa: a super awesome Greater Fairy; Ventus' sister
Ventus: another super awesome Greater Fairy; Rusa's brother
Phasyle: a Dark Nymph, he's super cool but annoying at first
Coriander: a Lemurporidae (a rabbit-lemur-hybrid-thing) who is cool but SOMETIMES YOU JUST WANNA RJFSM<KELRIJFNLKDEJAKFLKIJ rip his head off.
Keystone: a Rock Golem. He's so chill. :)
Willow: another Fairy, Vehiron's bodyguard. She is DA COOLEST
Rilien: a Celestial (EEP), Zir's father
Calathiel: another Elf, Zir's mother
Eucalypta: the suuuuuuper chatty Dragonoid who talks a mile a minute and is always so happieeee

and I'm just gonna stop there cause there's a lot of them :P

1: Most likely to become a poet
Vehiron. He was perfectly described by my fellow author who said "he just seems like the kind of guy to just go outside at night, look up at the stars, and smile". <3 <3 <3

Image result for quotes about the stars

2: Most likely to dance in the rain
Oh man, I don't know!! OH YES I DO. Eucalypta the Dragonoid. SHE IS LIKE. PSYCHED. ABOUT EVERYTHING. ALL THE TIME. and she would totally dance in the rain.

Image result for dancing in the rain memes
and she would totally do this if she were Spiderman

3: Most likely to look good in a kilt
Ohhhhhhh boy. Coriander. He has a Scotty accent, so. That's a hands-down easy answer.

Image result for scottish accent meme

4: Most likely to get punched in the face
...also Coriander, because he's annoying and can be rude and sometimes doesn't know when to shut up BUT WE LOVE HIM ANYWAY.

Image result for i want to punch you meme

5: Most likely to drop everything and become a shepherd
Um, I'm not too sure about this one. Cause like, all the characters from Relics are pretty tough people, aaaaaaand, I really don't know. I can't see any of them being shepherds, honestly...? xD Idk. Maybe Rilien and Calathiel because if they're with their daughter they don't care what they're doing (which is sweet).

6: Most likely to be found in a library
Lord Calanon. He. Luvs. Books. In fact, reading was his favorite pastime before *things* happened. And it's still his favorite pastime. :P

Image result for don't bother me i'm reading meme
ok is it just me or is this dude really cute with a book??

7: Most likely to sleep through an earthquake
Ok, I'd have to say Keystone the Rock Golem. He's like. So chill.
But don't start fighting him because, as my other author friend put it, "he can be a total war god" xD
And maybe Delar would sleep through it too.

8: Most likely to steal food from other people's plates
Also Coriander. He's a Master Thief. (so he says) And Delar too. He's my cheeky, snarky son and I LOVE HIM.

Image result for are you going to eat that meme

9: Most likely to say oops after setting something on fire
ZIR. OHMIGOSH ZIR. She is an absolute sweetheart and would be so horrified if she set something on fire.

Image result for oh my gosh I'm so sorry meme
THIS IS SO HER.
And if Eucalypta set something on fire she'd be like "Oh, did I do that? Sorry! I didn't mean to! But wow doesn't fire look cool! I like fire. Fire is so awesome, and when I used to get together with friends we'd always light a fire and have fun and dance around it. Oh! that reminds me, we have to have a party sometime soon. Yeah. A party. I like parties! They're great for making new friends. I like friends. Friends are so cool! Oh, by the way, I think I set something on fire." xD

Image result for i talk too much meme

10: Most likely to open an orphanage

Uhhhhh. I'd have to say... wow for some reason Rusa just came to mind. Which is odd because she's the fighter type. But hey, she's an orphan herself so... idk.
AND WILLOW. She LOVES children, so I could see her doing that.

FELLOW AUTHOR CORRECT ME ON THIS IF I'M WRONG

11: Most likely to survive a zombie apocalypse
All of them?? Because like--they can FIGHT? But I think Rilien and Calathiel would do the best because, like, they are SUPER good at fighting, and what is cooler than being married when both of you can kick some serious stuff and are SO DARN COOL. LERKMFDSKL.

12: Most likely to fake their own death
Delar. King of Being Silly And Awesome At The Same Time. :P I love him.

Related image

13: Most likely to die and haunt their friends
Once again, Delar. He would totally do that for pranks. Especially on Arya. Because he likes her. :D

Image result for pranking meme

14: Most likely to get tagged
...do I interpret this as "if one of your OC's were to get tagged, who would?"???
yeah why not
all of them.
.
.
.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH I SHOULD DO THIS THING WHERE ALL THE CHARACTERS "ANSWER" A SET OF QUESTIONS OH MY GOSHHHHH IDEAS

Anyway I hoped you enjoyed reading this post!

man i feel like all my posts are so boring *Googles blogging ideas*

Steal this tag! I won't tell! :D

Tales From Mirkwood #2

hey Elflings...

guess wut :D

IT IS

TALES FROM MIRKWOOD #2

~~~
Tales From Mirkwood #2
    I pounded on the bars of the steel door, furious and raging.
    "Scum!" I shouted. "Vermin! Let me out!"
    No one came however, so I kicked the door and sat against the wall.
    I was in an orc dungeon. I wasn't exactly sure how I had gotten there, but I was pretty sure that it had something to do with being kicked off a cliff.
    But anyways, here I was. My weapons had all been taken from me, and all I had left was the dagger hidden in the sole of my boot. I was considering taking it out when I saw an orc walking toward the door. It leered at me through the bars, increasing my anger.
    I leaped up and delivered a furious side-kick to its ugly face, knocking it down. The keys to the cell fell from its belt, unnoticed. The orc screeched and growled, and I retreated to the far side of the cell as it got up.
    "There's more where that came from," I hissed threateningly. "I wouldn't come in here if I were you."
    The orc snarled once more and left--without the keys. I grinned as I reached through the bars and retrieved the heavy bronze keys. Some guard.
    But I could still make no move of escape. There were orcs all around, and I had no idea where I was. I only had the small dagger with which to defend myself, so I hid the keys in my inner pocket and waited.
    ~
    Little did I know that help was on the way. I had been expected to meet with my fellow guards for King Thranduil's monthly review. They had missed me, and were instantly worried. I never missed anything. But for some reason I had decided to run to the waterfall on the south side of the palace to get a drink, and had been ambushed by a band of orcs. I slaughtered many of them before I was backed up to the cliff. Just as I raised my sword for another stroke, one of the orcs kicked the back of my knee, and I fell, backwards, over the edge of the cliff. I hacked off its leg before loosing my footing. It was the last thing I did before the world exploded into a thousand dazzling colors and then went black.
    ~
    I was pacing my cell. My cell. I should've brought pictures to hang on the walls, for it certainly looked as if I was going to be there for a while.
    Three strides wide, nine strides long. Three wide, nine long. Three, nine, three nine--
    I stopped abruptly. Pacing wouldn't help me any, as it would take a long time to wear a hole in the stone floor. Help would surely come long before that.
    ...would it?
~
    "Here! ...and again, here."
    Legolas and five picked scouts were tracking me. They had come to the waterfall, and were reading the telltale signs in the trampled grass. The prince was on one knee, tracing footprints with a finger.
    "And here," he said. "Her foot is smaller and lighter than those of the vermin." He stood and walked a few more steps, to the edge of the waterfall. His face went grim, and he clenched his fists.
~
    I was cold and weary. I wanted out of this cell. Having the keys made no difference. There were always five or more orcs around, and they were heavily armed with their ugly, blocky weapons.
    Weapons. My hands felt oddly empty without my bow and sword. True, when I had them they weren't always in my hands, but just knowing that I didn't have them at all was bothering me.
    I sat in the corner, hugging my knees to my chest for warmth. When would help come? Would it come at all? Ever?
    "Legolas will come for me," I whispered fiercely, gripping my knees even harder. "He won't let me die here. He is my friend. He will come!"
    But it was hard, with a damp, cold breeze blowing into the cell, to make myself believe that.
~
     Meanwhile, Legolas and his scouts had found and slaughtered all but one of a group of thirteen orcs. The last was being interrogated, with the blade of an Elvish dagger just centimeters from its throat.
     "What have you done with her?" Legolas asked harshly.
     "Done with her? What her?" the orc snarled, with an ugly sneer.
     "Playing dumb will avail you nothing," the Elf prince replied cooly. "You know to whom I am referring. The Elf maiden with long brown hair."
     "Oh--that one. We ate her for supper a few days back."
     The Elf standing behind the orc, holding the dagger, raised startled eyes to the prince. He, however, made no sign, only raised an eyebrow and waited. Under his cold stare, the orc shifted uncomfortably, and finally added,
     "She isn't dead. But she will be soon!"
     Again Legolas made no sign, but his mind reeled. She's not dead, she's still alive! He gestured with his hand, and the orc's vision suddenly went black as its life was ended with a quick twist of its captor's wrist.
     "Vile worm," Legolas muttered, and they moved on.
~
     I stared up at the stone ceiling. I was so tired, but it was dangerous to let myself rest. My life was in danger as it was; I couldn't risk letting my heart run away over fields and under trees. It was too risky.
     Eriathwen! called a voice in my head.
     Legolas?
     I sat up slowly. Something was messing with my head. Surely--
     Eriathwen?
     Legolas!!
     He was here! He had come for me!
     I stood, fighting a black dizziness. I began to hear the sounds of a confrontation. Shouts and yells echoed through the cavern, and the clash and shing of metal on metal made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I ran to the barred door, gripping it hard, and listening eagerly. Ahhhh, yes. My people were here, I knew it. No other race had weapons that sang with such fierce joy when evil was vanquished.
     Then I heard a familiar voice yelling my name above the other sounds of conflict.
     "Eriathwen!"
     "Legolas!" I shouted back. "Legolas!"
     The sounds of the battle drew nearer. From my position I could see nothing, but adrenaline was rushing through me nonetheless. I jerked the keys out of my pocket and stuck my left hand through the bars, desperately trying to free myself.
     "Legolas!" I cried out again. "I want to fight too!"
     Suddenly something swung into my line of vision and came crashing down on my hand. The key snapped off in the lock, and fire seared through my palm, racing down my fingers and up my arm. I recoiled, instinctively cradling my hand to my chest. I felt blood dripping through my fingers, and looked down to find a long, jagged gash in my palm. The back of my hand was turning blue, and the thought registered (although barely) that I had broken bones. I looked up to find a particularly large orc leering at me, holding a huge club in one hand, and in the other... the keys.
     I saw red, and struck out with my right hand. The orc jumped back--right into the path of the arrow that came zipping down the hall at that very moment. The orc fell in a heap on the floor.
     "Legolas!" I shouted, pain lacing my voice. "Here I am! Let me out!"
     He came running, and I saw with delight that he had my bow, quiver, and sword. He handed these to me through the bars and began to fight with the lock.
     "Eriathwen Saerwen, are you alright?! Everyone has been worried sick!" he exclaimed.
     "I'm alright," I gasped, though my voice shook and my entire arm was on fire.
     He busted the lock, and I was free. I rushed out after him, buckling on my sword-belt and throwing my quiver over my shoulder. We rounded a corner and beheld quite a sight.
     Five Elves in the unmistakable uniform of the Scouts were fighting back-to-back, defending themselves against a swarming horde of orcs. They were greatly outnumbered.
     Legolas spoke as if he knew what I was thinking.
     "How unfair"--he smirked--"for the orcs." Then he grinned at me, and that grin sent the battle fire raging through me. It was ON.
     We plunged into the fray, fighting for all we were worth and then some. Orcs went down with every stroke, and their numbers were fast decreasing.
     But it was when I retreated a bit and began to use my bow that I knew something was wrong with my hand. Since I was right-handed, I had to hold my bow with my left hand and draw with my right. I was completely unprepared for the fresh wave of pain that sliced through my palm like a white-hot knife. The smooth wood of the bow might have been poisoned thorns for all the pain it caused, touching the open gash. And I could barely curl my fingers around the bow for the agony that sent my nerves into shock as they ground against the broken bones of my hand. I almost bit a hole in my lip to stop the scream forming in my throat.
     I whipped out three arrows and let them fly. A small whimper got past my clenched teeth, but I tried to ignore the pain and kept on. However, when I released the sixth arrow I could hold it in no longer. A scream ripped like a lightning bolt out of my throat, and I felt tears running down my face. But I couldn't stop, my people needed me. I must've been quite a laughable sight, simultaneously sniping orcs and crying uncontrollably. At the time though, I wasn't thinking of that.
     Then suddenly it was over. And not a moment too soon. I shot my last arrow, dropped my bow, staggered back, and almost fell against the wall behind me as I gripped my wrist, trying to cut off the pain. Suddenly someone was in front of me, and I gasped in agony as they took my arm.
     "Eriathwen, what have you done?" Legolas breathed, seeing my hand. I was literally hanging from his grip on my wrist, as my legs were failing me and my whole body was going into shock. Never before had I experienced such intense agony.
     "Come out of here so I can take care of that," he told me, putting my arm around his shoulder so he could help me stand. When we got into the open air he tended to my hand, washing it with clear spring water and making me a splint with some bandages and a smooth stick. The other five stayed well away from us--whether to keep from distracting Legolas or to protect their own ears from me, I don't know.
     "I don't know if it'll hold," he murmured anxiously, as he cradled my arm carefully. "But it'll have to do until we get back to the palace and I can get you to the Healers."
~
     When we finally got back to the palace, Legolas and I went straight to the Healers.
     "I hope I did ok on it," he said, more to himself than anyone else. Then he turned to me and gave a little grin. "I'm better at fighting than fixing."
     About half an hour later the two of us emerged from the Healers, me with my arm neatly wrapped and bandaged all the way up to the elbow, and Legolas with a very satisfied look on his face. The Healers had, of course, redone his medical job, but they had found the break perfectly set, and they'd only had to re-wrap it with fresh bandages. My palm also had been treated, with a soothing ointment put on the gash.
     "Are you better now?" Legolas asked me, as we walked back down the halls to the guardrooms.
     I nodded, silent and red eyed. All my... exertions... had quite worn me out.
     "Eriathwen," he said gently, stopping and turning me to face him. "I am extremely proud of you. I knew even before I got to you that you'd been hurt. I could tell from the way you were screaming my name. And to have a broken hand and still fight, not caring about your own pain, but instead about the success of your fellow Elves... that is the mark of a true soldier." He put a hand on my shoulder and raised my face to look at him. "I can't say just how proud I am."
     I went scarlet and looked at my feet. Praise wasn't something that was thrown to everyone as bread is thrown to pigeons. I managed to choke out my thanks. But I still had a concern.
     "How am I supposed to fight like this?" I said tiredly, holding up my arm. "If I can't fight, then I can't get that promotion."
     I was completely unprepared for what happened next. The hand that rested oh my shoulder slid around to the back of my neck and he pulled me into a consoling hug. For a moment I was too surprised to react, then I put my head on his shoulder and shut my eyes. I wanted to cry, but I couldn't. I was too exhausted.
     I don't remember what happened after that. My legs gave out on me, and I had the odd sensation of floating. Next thing I knew, I was buried in a soft blanket, and someone kissed my head. Just before I fell fully asleep, I thought, I've been wrong. Promotions are not the most important thing in the world. There is something--someone--of a far, far greater value...
     And I slipped beneath the waves of the merciful blackness of sleep.
AND THERE IT IS. UGH. GAH. I CAN'T. I LOVE HER. ERIATHWEN IS SO NAIVE. WE HAVE TO WORK ON HER. WE SHALL WORK ON HER. Whaddaya say, Eflings?
Yeah, we gonna work on her! :D
What do you think Elfings? Is this good, bad, or just plain horrid? :P
Tales from Mirkwood #1
.....drumrollllll.....
TA DA! IT IS THE FIRST OF THE MIRKWOOD TALES! WHOOP WHOOP!
I hope you like it!!
~~~
    An arrow.
    Not the pleasantest thing to see before you die.
     But a job is a job, and an enemy bred for evil is an enemy bred for evil, and therefore must be destroyed.
    That's what happened to the orc on the ground in front of me.
    I sighed, and slung my bow over my shoulder. I walked away calmly. It was over. The last marauding orc was slain, and Mirkwood was once again free of the vermin.
    "Eriathwen!"
    I turned to see someone waiting for me farther up the path. I hastened my stride to meet him, and bowed with a hand on my heart to show submission and respect as I reached him.
    "My lord Legolas," I greeted him.
    "Eriathwen. You fight very bravely. I might give you a promotion soon," he replied, smiling.
    I bowed again to hide my excitement. A promotion! From a simple guard to a captain of scouts--it had always been my secret wish.
    "Thank you, my lord," I said. "I will try very hard to serve as best I may."
    He bestowed a smile on me. This only served to heighten my excitement. Why, if he was pleased with me I might even receive official mention!
    "Come, Eriathwen," he said. "We must return to the palace."
    I gave a nod of assent and followed.
    Later that night I was creeping around the halls. King Thranduil was hosting a banquet for some of his lords, and with all my heart I wished I was one of them. The sight of the food loaded on the long tables made my stomach growl, even though I had already eaten.
    Suddenly I caught some of their conversation.
    "...and she jumped down right in the middle of the orcs, fighting like a panther. They never saw it coming."
    It was Prince Legolas speaking. He kept telling his story, and the lords were eagerly drinking it in, when suddenly I realized that they were talking about me!
    I went scarlet to the roots of my hair, then just as quickly became pale. This was my official mention! I listened attentively and watched the king from my hiding place behind a large pillar. He was listening carefully too--I could tell, even though he was staring at his wine as he swirled it around in his glass.
    "Such a fighter deserves a better position," I heard him say when Legolas had finished. My heart leaped high with hope. Could his next sentence contain my promotion?
    "Call her in here," Thranduil said suddenly, and a servant at his elbow bowed and walked away.
    I realized that the servant would come looking for me in the guardrooms (which is where I should've been), so I slipped out of the hall. As soon as I could, however, I started running, so as to get there ahead of the servant.
    I just barely made it. He met me right by the entrance to the guardrooms. Met me! It was more like I crashed into him as I rounded the corner.
    "The king wishes to speak with you," he said, cool as ever in spite of our near-collision.
    I followed him back, panting, with my hopes rising higher every second. Just one word from the king and I could be a Scout! I was so excited.
    The servant left me at the door, and I walked in, fighting down my tumultuous emotions. I don't know how I got down the room, but somehow I did, for I found myself standing at the opposite end of the table from the king, bowing with the Guards' Salute.
    "Eriathwen," Thranduil said, with his most gracious tone. "I have heard positive reports of you from my son. I am very pleased with you."
    I was speechless and tense from excitement, but I bowed again and managed to say something along the lines of "serving my king is my honor and privilege".
    "Such diligent and unrelenting patriotism deserves a fitting reward. If you continue your admirable deeds, you might just receive a promotion to Scout Captain in a year's time."
    A year! I was crushed instantly. I know I must've gone white, for the king looked at me with a questioning air.
   "Thank you, my lord," I heard myself say. "I am honored." Then I bowed once more, turned, and walked out. I strode numbly past the barracks, went outside to the small pond near the palace, sat down--and burst into tears.
    ....a YEAR!
    It was all hopeless. I had been striving toward my goal for three years already. My hope, my dream, had been held tantalizingly in front of me, so excruciatingly close--and then withdrawn out of my reach. I was heartbroken.
    I had been sitting for some time when I sensed someone behind me. I stood, wiping my tears, and turned to face Legolas.
    I was ashamed, and hung my head down before him. It is considered beneath the dignity of the Elves to cry over petty trifles. But he didn't look condescendingly at me.
    "I understand how much that promotion meant to you," he said. "I am sorry."
    I bit my lip. If he continued on like this I was sure to start sobbing again.
    "But you should not despair," he continued on. "This setback will only make you stronger. Think: I know you deserve that promotion now--there is no doubt about that. But in a year from now, you will have even more deeds to show for yourself. So do not despair!"
    He lifted my chin and gave me an encouraging smile.
    "Come, mellon," he said.
    Mellon. Friend. The Prince of the Woodland Realm had called me friend! I was instantly hopeful again.
    "Thank you, my lord Legolas," I said, and a small smile crept over my face.
    As I followed him back to the palace, I thought to myself, Maybe he's right. There is hope after all.
    And tomorrow was another day.

An Idea with a Capital I ;)

Hi Elflings! It's me again, the unfaithful poster here on the Life Of An Elf :D sowwy...

ANYWAY I had an Idea and I was wondering what you peeps would think of it!

So I have started writing a series of short stories called Tales From Mirkwood (#cheesy), the main character of which is an Elf named Eriathwen, WHICH IS ACTUAL ELVISH FOR MY REAL NAME. YIPE.

..and my point was: I'm wondering if you readers would like for me to post them on here! I already have one story written, and I started the second one this morning. I can't wait to see what you think!

Tell me your thoughts! And if you would like to add a prompt for a Mirkwood Tale in your comment, feel free! I would love to hear your ideas! (plus I need prompts xD)

Meet Some of My Characters! (The Language of Worlds Linkup)

Hey my Elflings! I'm gonna call y'all that, by the way. (If you don't like it let me know and I'll say something like "Hey my Elflings! ....plus those Humans who don't like being called Elflings." :P) So I was reading my friend's blog...and by now you know that's Ceci @ Ceci Creates...and she did the Language of Worlds Linkup, which, in my opinion is da coolest. Anyway, I thought that her post was supercool and I asked her if it was "stealable", to quote myself. And she said yes, it was, and sent me the link to the blog it came from, namely Liv K. Fisher. So, seeing as how I have yet to disclose some o' my characters from an "E Pluribus Unum" book that I'm writing, I thought it would be cool to do this post! So, let's get started!

Rules for this Linkup thingy:

...and it's nice and big and I'm gonna leave it streched across the page so you can't possibly miss it. :D

So! Before I answer the questions you Elflings are gonna need a bit of background. I am going to do this with the three main characters from my book. The book is called The Sign of Royalty and suffice it to say that I love it to pieces. The plot is basically the struggles and triumps of an Elf and her brother (and sorta her friend...) Yeah. So the MC's name is Isenill ("eye-zen-ill"), her brother is Naschurien ("nah-shur-ee-in"), and her friend is Avior (NOT "ay-vee-or", as my brother says, but "aaa-vee-or". Grr, that is anoyinng. "A" like in "apple", not like in "aviator"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) The three of them live in the Elf-kingdom of Illiwynn, and if I keep going I might accidentally give too much info. Y'all are just going to have to wait till I get it published (hah) to get the full story. Anyway! Let's do this!

Isenill first!

1: What does your character fear the most?

Isenill is afraid of losing her brother or her friend, or having her...gr...hmph...well, her secret identity discovered by certain unnamed traitors to the...oh wait. :D

2: How would they handle it if they were to face their fear?

Hm... let's take this one part at a time. If she were to:
-Lose her brother. She'd probably never get over it. Their brother-sister relationship is so strong it isn't funny. Lemme just give a tiny teaser and say he's all she's had since she was eleven.
-Lose her friend. Yeeeeeah, she'd probably never get over that one either. Nuff said.
-Have her secret identity discovered by certain unnamed traitors, blah, blah, blah. She'd probably panic. And then try to escape. Yeah, I really don't know!

#Can'tStandNotBeingAbleToGiveSpoilers
#......ButItWouldTakeTooLongAnyway

3: Do they want to get married?

Um, duh?  Get a copy of the book that I haven't finished yet! :D

4: What is their love language (i.e. words of affirmation, physical touch, gifts, quality time, acts of service)?

Elves are really good with words, so I guess that. Isenill also loves when her brother hugs her and comforts her. Avior kinda keeps his distance, cause, ya know, like, not just yet? PATIENCE PEEPS, EVENTUALLY. PATIENCE.

5: On a scale from 1(messy) to 5 (organised), how do they rate?

...em... I would say she's a 5. I mean,
*cough*sinceshe'snotinherrightfulplaceshereallydoesn'thavethatmuch*cough*. So yeah. She's a five.

6: How do they feel about debates/disagreements?

Like I said, Isenill never really has to deal with #people, but she can argue well and she is good at listening to people, although once she's made up her mind there's no changing it, no matter what you say. She also has that "look", you know, the sorta I-hope-you-remember-who-you're-talking-to sorta look that will come in handy in later chapters...

7: What do they bring to a battle (figurative or literal)?

For a literal battle? Fierce patriotism, a blazing wrath against the enemy--if they are foolish enough to arouse it--and of course her weapons (bow and arrows, daggers, small sword), plus her amazing Elvish skill and agility. For a figurative battle? Her wits, her brains, and overall her ability to keep a cool head...when she wants to. :P

8: What's their favorite thing to eat for breakfast?

Lol, I never really say in the book! But since I'm the author, I know all of the cool behind-the-ink/lead things, so she likes to eat fruit and bread.

9: How do they treat themselves after a long day?

Um, ya know, like...sleeping? Haha, and a relaxing evening just being with her brother. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH HOW MUCH THEY LOVE EACH OTHER.

10: What do you most want readers to glean from this story?

Well, first of all I hope they get the whole harvest and don't just glean. ;-)
-I want readers to realize how important family is, and also to never give up, even when the going gets rough. Also that Elves are totally awesome and that I am so proud of being one. ;-)
-From Isenill herself: I want them so see that bravery isn't just acting all big and strong. It's doing the right thing even when you're afraid to do it. And that it's profitable to love your big brother. :D

Now it's Naschurien's turn! :D

1: What does your character fear the most?

Losing Isenill. He doesn't care about anything but his sister. And also having his secret identity discovered. His secret fear, though, is never seeing his father again.

2: How would they handle it if they were to face their fear?

If Naschurien lost Isenill, he'd probably go insane. He sees himself as her sole protector and guardian, and he'd never stop blaming himself if she died. If he never saw his father again, he'd be heartbroken. I'm tellin' y'all, Naschurien is an absolute cinnamon roll. :D

3: Do they want to get married?

Um, no. Naschurien is a free spirit and he only cares about his sister. <3
........................so far.....................

*cough* .....Ceci ;-) ... *cough*

4: What is their love language (i.e. words of affirmation, physical touch, gifts, quality time, acts of service)?

Naschurien is not really a talker. I mean, he can when he wants to, but he doesn't give speeches. One thing, though, he keeps one hand on his sister's arm when they sleep, because he's so protective. Also, although he'd never admit it, he needs to feel she's there for his own sake. They are so connected.
....y'all are probably tired of this theme by now... Well sorry. Reality is reality, peeps. :P

5: On a scale from 1 (messy) to 5 (organised), how do they rate?

Oh, he's definitely a 5! If those ropes aren't packed a certain way, he will turn the forest upside down to make sure they get how he wants them. :D

6: How do they feel about debates/disagreements?

He doesn't like them. He would rather avoid them, but when they are inevitable he doesn't loose his cool easily.

7: What do they bring to a battle (figurative or literal)?

His unusual agility, his wits, and weapons, and the devastating wrath of an Elf-lord if needed. For both figurative and literal. :D

8: What's their favorite thing to eat for breakfast?

Apples. He LOVES apples! :P

9: How do they treat themselves after a long day?

He likes to sleep on the bank of the river and let the sound of the water soothe his entire body and mind. Guys, he's so gentle unless he has to be otherwise.

10: What do you want readers to glean from this story?

-From Naschurien himself: I want readers to see that siblings' connections are important, and that gentleness isn't something to be ashamed of. In fact, it's a virtue! ;-)

And finally, we get to Avior! This oughta be fun, seeing as he's sort of a secondary-main character....? Yeah. Anyway! *rubs hands*

1: What does your character fear the most?

That something might happen to his friends (because he knows their secret identities). Avior is such a sweetheart!  Oh, and also that he might get ambushed when he didn't have his weapons. That's his quirk. :D

2: How would they handle it if they were to face their fear?

-If something happened to his friends: He'd do anything in his power to help them. And if it was too late he'd go out of Illiwynn forever because it would remind him of them.
-If he got caught without his weapons: He'd mentally shake his head at himself and fight with his bare hands.

3: Do they want to get married?

Yes. Of course. Can't say much because of #spoilers but yes, he does. :D

4: What is their love language (i.e. words of affirmation, physical touch, gifts, quality time, acts of service)?

Avior's not really a physical person, and although he's good with words, he's most content just being with people and helping.

5: On a scale of 1 (messy) to 5 (organised), how do they rate?

Avior is outside fifty percent of the time, but he rates a 5. Elves, ya know. :D He keeps tidy.

6: How do they feel about debates/disagreements?

Uhhhhh, he really hates arguments. *cough*especiallysincehisolderbrotherisinterestedinthesamespecialpersonasheis*cough*
Plus he gets frustrated more easily than some.

7:  What do they bring to a battle (figurative or literal)?

Avior makes sure to have weapons on hand at all times (see question #1 and #2). He brings courage and skill, for both types of battles. Plus he has "the stare". :P

8: What's their favorite thing to eat for breakfast?

He loves to eat pears and a roll. Avior and his pears :D

9: How do they treat themselves after a long day?

He likes to sit and listen to the wind. It speaks to his soul. How and why, don't ask me, cause I don't know. He never told me.

10: What do you want readers to glean from this story?

-From Avior himself: Don't be afraid to be courageous and kind. And I could word that another way, but plagarism, ya know. :-) And be faithful. Fidelity is a great virtue.

And there we have it! I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed doing it!

OH OH OH WAIT. I absolutely HAVE to give you Elflings a snippet from my book to once agin UNDERSCORE my point of Naschurien and Isenill being so awesome as siblings. So! SNIPPET TIME!

~~~
[...] Isenill trudged along by her brother's side, under his protecting arm.
      "Isenill," he sighed.
      She said nothing, only wiped her eyes.
      Naschurien stopped and took her by the shoulders. Her head drooped, and he said pleadingly,
      "Isenill, look at me. I want you to understand that I did it for you, and so that I wouldn't have to be worried about you. Do you understand?"
      "No," she whispered. "Naschurien, it's just a bird!"
      "Exactly. It's just a bird. Not worth risking your safety over."
      "But--"
      "I couldn't have let you stay and rested easy in my mind. You must not realize that your life is my responsibility. I am carrying the most valuable thing in the world, your life, in my hands like a crystal bowl. I have to walk carefully. One false step and I might drop the bowl--let it slip out of my hands--and it could shatter into a million pieces. And if such a terrible thing were to happen, I would either die of grief over having let the crystal shatter or I would kill myself with one of the shards."
[...] Isenill's eyes filled with tears again.
      "I'm sorry, Naschurien," she whispered, and all at once his arms were locked around her like steel bands, and she burrowed her head into his shoulder.
~~~

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA SEE WHAT I MEAN?!?!?!?!? They love each other so much! Ok, ok, I'm finished for real now.

...did I mention that Naschurien is ten years older than Isenill?

Have you done this linkup? Do you plan to? If you have already, did you learn anything about your characters that you "didn't know"? I did! Would you like to hear more about my characters or my other stories?
